The Churches and Cathedrals of Rome

There are purportedly 400 churches in "Centro Storico", an area about the size of Greenwich Village.
I didn't take many photos in the churches, but I was amazed by the quantity of extravagant Art in all of them.


 

The newly restored Sistine Chapel, with it's now vivid colors.  Last time I saw it, it was drab..

Note the difference below, of the before/after restoration.

And after dozens of glorious churches, there's St. Peters Basilica, which blows them all away.

The cherubs on this "holy water font" are huge - the black blur is a person.
