Lyre-form Timepiece

We are pleased to offer this new design, with the completion of the prototype projected for the end of 2005.

The bottom part of the lyre is constructed from cast iron affixed to a block of black granite. The upper part of the lyre is a lighter structure which terminates in a gilt finial which doubles as a regulation knob. The pendulum bob is a metal sphere supported at the center of gravity, and the primary temperature compensation is a rod formed of fused quartz tubing.

Designed to be displayed under a dome, this spring driven regulator features an isochronous escapement and a quartz compensation pendulum.

Right: the oval movement has an astronomical engine-turned dial with engraved chapters and a visible escapement.

The isochronous escapement features semi-deadbeat carbide pallets where the locking faces are engineered with the precise amount of recoil to compensate for the variable force of the mainspring.
